Prepping for Your Energy Session

If you want to make the most of your Reiki or Emotion Release session, follow the guidance below to enhance your healing to the fullest.

Consider what you’d like to focus on during your session. This could include physical issues, health concerns, mental stress, exhaustion, unresolved emotions, negative thought patterns, or habits you'd like to change. We can even focus on manifesting, goals, and setting intentions.

Physical Preparation

Avoid (cut out or reduce) the following at least 12-48 hours before and after, your session for maximum benefit:

  • Alcohol;

  • Recreational drugs;

  • Nicotine;

  • Caffeine;

  • Red meat;

  • Heavily processed foods; and

  • High levels of sugar (especially High Fructose Corn Syrup).

If the above seems too difficult for you to implement, I highly suggest, at the bare minimum, that you increase your water intake. Not only will this help during your session, but staying hydrated also helps integrate the energy in the days following your appointment.

Try to pick just one or two to try from the list. Any little bit helps, but it’s all optional!

Mental Preparation

On the day of your session, I suggest that you focus on being mindful and calm, avoiding lower vibrational emotions such as fear, anger, worry, and stress. Go for a walk or spend some time in nature, even if you only have a few minutes to spare.

You can also try creating sacred space within and around you by focusing on feelings of peace and love. Imagine a ball of white light surrounding you. Set the intention that this ball of light will keep everything positive and high vibrational inside of it, while repelling low vibrational energies. Trust that it is true, and it will be.

What to Expect

Understanding what happens during an energy healing session can help you fully receive and benefit from the healing energies. Below, I’ll walk you through what to expect during your first session.

Reiki Sessions

Before

If you're new to my practice, you’ll complete the Client Intake Form before your session. This helps me understand your needs and ensures your experience is aligned with your goals.

When you arrive at my office, we’ll take a few moments to discuss your intentions for the session, review any relevant medical history or preferences, and address any questions you might have. Once you feel fully comfortable, we’ll begin your session.

During

Unless you have significant mobility challenges, all Reiki healing sessions are done fully clothed while lying comfortably on a massage table. Your comfort is essential for receiving the healing energy, so I’ll make sure you’re fully supported before we begin. Clean sheets, blankets, bolsters, and eye masks are provided and refreshed between each client for your peace of mind. You're also welcome to bring your own eye mask if you prefer. You’ll also be required to change into fresh, clean socks before we begin.

In a new client session (typically a Chakra/Aura Rebalance), you will begin face-down as I work on the back of the body. This is the only time a client is face-down on the table. For all future sessions, clients remain on their backs for the entire session unless there is a health issue that prevents this. 

I begin most sessions by performing an energy scan using my hands and various energy tools to assess your aura and chakra system. Based on what I find, I’ll focus on sending healing energy to each chakra, moving around and along the body as needed.

About halfway through, I’ll gently let you know when it’s time to turn over onto your back, and I’ll continue the healing process on the front of the body. To close the session, I may incorporate additional energy tools such as chimes, tuning forks, feathers, or other vibrational aids to help clear and harmonize your energy.

After

At the end of your session, I’ll invite you to rest for a few minutes and gently return to your body. Once you're fully present, I’ll have a bottle of water ready for you, and we’ll take a few moments to chat about the session, share any insights, and discuss next steps or future appointments.

Emotion Release Sessions

Before

Just as in a Reiki session, we will meet at the time of your appointment and begin by discussing your goals for the session, including any mental, physical, emotional, or spiritual issues you may have.

If you're new to my practice, you’ll complete the Client Intake Form before your session so we can track your progress over time. All information is kept confidential and is used only for healing purposes.

During

Emotion Release sessions are performed sitting comfortably in a chair or on a massage table. I begin by connecting with you on an energetic level, tuning in to your subconscious and your Higher Self. After a connection is made, I use biofeedback techniques (kinesiology) to determine the trapped emotions you have that are ready to be released. Each session is different in this aspect, as the subconscious mind knows which emotions to release, in what order, and how many can be released at any given time.

We’ll work with your subconscious, typically for anywhere between 15 and 30 minutes, until no more emotions can be released. Once we have determined the last emotion that can be released was in fact released, we can then determine how soon your next session can be. Each person is unique in how they respond to the energy release and the emotional processing that occurs afterwards. Typically, though, emotion release sessions can be done as quickly as every few days, if desired. I suggest scheduling one session per week in the beginning.

Many clients can release between 4-10 trapped emotions per session. The amount of sessions needed will differ from person to person, but I recommend purchasing at least 4 sessions to start.

Once all trapped emotions have been released from the body, you can decide to come in for a session on an as-needed basis. Keeping the body and energetic field clear of trapped emotions, however, is an ongoing practice that will keep you feeling your best, no matter what is going on in your life.
